The tender serves as a dinghy of the sailing yachts at the Americs’s Cup primarily as a spare parts store. He accompanies the yachts to quickly replace a torn sail in an emergency and to provide other replacement material in the event of damage.
So far, motorized inflatables are used as tenders at the America’s Cup. The tenders are controlled by a second, smaller crew.
The America’s Cup
The America’s Cup (AC) is the oldest sailing regatta held. Defenders and challengers compete in several races against each other in the fight for the challenge cup. The team that wins the predetermined number of races wins the cup. Defenders and challengers can also agree on different rules for the America’s Cup. The yachts must be built in the country of each team.
Outstanding! The new tender yacht design
The new industrial design for the tender was developed in parallel with the broom wagon design and is intended to take up and reinforce the show effect of the event.
The show effect of Industrial Design
The new tender is in the water only with the lower half. At a standstill, the upper part of the fuselage rises several meters high into the air and thus has an unmistakable signal effect.
Moving the tender
The tender is pulled by drones. The drones were designed to be used in both the Tour de France and the America’s Cup. In addition to this completely new drive, the drones manage the spare parts warehouse of the tender and create the replacement material for the sailing yacht to enable quick and precise repairs.
